Talking About the Near Future

Voy a plus a verb lets you talk about plans immediately.

You do not need the formal future tense yet. The pattern plus an infinitive handles most everyday future talk.

The pattern

I am going to pay.
I am going to call.
I am going to come back tomorrow.
I am going to study more.

For formal you:

Are you going to wait here?
Are you going to pay with card?

For we:

We are going to eat.
We are going to look for a taxi.

Time words

today
tomorrow
this afternoon
tonight
next week
next month

Plans, intentions, and warnings

I plan to stay six months.
I need to leave early.
I have to renew my card.
I am not going to be able to go today.
