Adjectives and Agreement

Make descriptions match: listo, lista, listos, listas.

Spanish adjectives usually change to match the noun they describe. Masculine, feminine, singular, plural: the ending follows the noun.

The normal pattern

the ready document
the ready copy

Most adjectives come after the noun:

a big house
a hot coffee
an important question

Adjectives ending in e

Many adjectives ending in e do not change for masculine/feminine. They still change for plural.

an urgent procedure
an urgent appointment

Nationalities and professions

Some descriptions are identity words, and they also agree.

I am American, said by a man.
I am American, said by a woman.
We are American.
She is Mexican.

Some profession words do not change much:

I am a student.
I am a manager.

muy and más

Use for “very” and for “more.”

It is very important.
I need more time.
Do you have something cheaper?
